Pacific Lim

Wow. Just wow. The last week has been absolutely bonkers over here. A messianic press conference held by president Amadeo Salvo revealed the name of Peter Lim to the world: a Singaporean billionaire who has made its bid to buy Valencia CF out of Bankia’s paws. What a shocker! However, Lim’s uncovering was just the beginning of something much, much more complex

Peter Lim wants to land gracefully in Valencia. He offers money enough to make the debt vanish, restart the building of the Nuevo Mestalla stadium and configure a competitive roster of players in the short term as early as next January. Salvo claimed that Lim’s arrival would secure 30-40 million euros to buy top players in the winter market. Too good to be true?

Since then, speculation has run rampant with Lim’s real intentions. While maybe, just maybe, the billionaire’s motivations are honest and nice towards a club and a city that attracts powerful people like a magnet, many fans have become suspicious of his offer. And, furthermore, the bank who has made its mission to sell the club also has many issues with Peter Lim’s bid.

The war, though, isn’t being fought in the surface. As usually happens in seas and oceans, they may be in calm while their depths roar with twisters of sand, water and fury. The battle of attrition behing the stage between Bankia and Amadeo Salvo has reached new heights after the announcement, last week, only minutes before the game against Real Madrid. The media went all over this piece of news. Salvo reinforced his position in the eyes of the fans with that move, promising them a brighter future secured by Singaporean capital from abroad.

There are other offers on top of the table. The bank hopes to leave only the cream of the crop as the final bidders. Salvo thinks that the offer has has presented in Peter Lim’s name is the best of the bunch. The fight is about to get nasty, as a ‘kaiju’-‘jaeger’ brawl in midst of the ocean. The final chapters of this war are still to be written.
